It's my Insta and I'll be Extra if I want to...
So I’ve been doing this thing on my instagram where I post three of the same type of photo because millennial aesthetics.
Recently, someone commented on why I have such great Instagram photos. The short answer is: know your angles and just keep doing them until someone notices.
Honestly I make the same few faces in each of my photos but It also helps to have a great photographer. So whenever I’m at the parks I just ask a few cast members to help out and take as many as they can because a few of them are bound to work. Or more realistically, three of them will be okay enough to fix in post.
Also, in order to be less of a garbage person (seriously go back and read that blog post I wrote about that) just try to master three good poses. But refrain from the hand on the hip and tilted head pose. That’s only acceptable for bachelorette parties and cheer team photos.
Also think about these things when taking photos.
Ask for a wide shot. You’ll always get better details and a more dynamic photo of a wall with a wider shot.
Find your light and know your angles. Personally I make the three same faces. My personal default is opening my mouth a little while putting my tongue on the roof of my mouth. Try it, no seriously.
Try at least one pose that’s a bit unusual for you.
Don’t be afraid to look foolish. In the immortal words of great American painter Bob Ross, we don’t make mistakes, just happy accidents. Also just put a tree there if you fuck up. But try something a little different than just standing there and you might end up with a winner.
Every so often you’ll end up with a few gems.
