I have made some terrible fashion choices in the past. This post will focus on how you can learn from the mistakes I made when I dressed terribly as a young adult. Want to learn how to suck a little less? Keep reading.
Whenever I get ready/get dressed I ask myself these 3 simple questions when choosing an outfit.
1. Is the 'fit (read: outfit) Instagram worthy?
Honestly, I've make the same three faces in all my pictures but the outfit distracts from that. Since men tend to just throw on a t-shirt and jeans without much work. You've already got a leg up on the competition. You'd be surprised what a nice timepiece or ring can do to elevate an outfit. Also, if you're ever wearing the same outfit as someone the tie-breaker is almost always on shoes. So guys, please buy some nicer footwear.
2. If you run into an ex, will the 'fit make them jealous?
I used to live in San Francisco and came up with this rule because, without failure, I could be going down a half block to get tomatoes and I'd run into someone I knew (read: dated). Honestly, it doesn't take much for me to get ready now but I'll constantly take the extra 10 minutes to avoid any and all "running into an ex" situation. If Carrie Bradshaw taught me anything, it was to make sure that I wasn't running outside in something I'd regret later.
3. Can You Run From The Cops In It?
Not that I've ever had to run from the cops but there were times in the past when I was much younger that I thought to myself, "man it's a good thing I'm not committing a crime because there is no way I'd get away in these shoes."
Hopefully, you've had a good laugh and find this somewhat helpful. I'd try to wrap this up with a witty joke but you've probably gotten enough of me for the day.
